Fostering a child from Afghanistan (AFGnotopen)

This course doesn't yet include the new rapid changes happening in Afghanistan. A new version of this course will be available soon.

[This course will take you about 45 mins to complete.]

Between April 2019 and March 2020, 3,463 unaccompanied minors arrived in the UK asking for asylum and many of them will be looked after in foster care. Afghanistan is one of the main countries where these children come from. To be able to support them, it will be helpful for you to know about their culture and the challenges they went through.

In this course, you will learn:
- Why learning about children from Afghanistan is important.
- General information about Afghanistan.
- How to deal with prejudices.
- How to apply for asylum in the UK.
- Common mental issues in asylum-seeking children.
