Description
[This course will take you about 1h30mins to complete.]
Children and young people are likely to be curious about alcohol. This is normal. A child in your care may already have had experiences with alcohol or spent time with friends who drink. However, as a foster carer, directly giving alcohol to a foster child could get you into a lot of trouble.
In this course, you will learn:
- How common it is for children and young people to consume alcohol.
- How to talk to children and young people about alcohol.
- About the legislation on alcohol.
- About the risks of alcohol consumption and dependency.
- About risky behaviours that can be associated with drinking, including drink-driving.
- About the risks of having your drink spiked, and how to stay safe in social situations.
- What to do if you suspect alcohol poisoning
- What you can do to support a child with alcohol addiction.
